Multi Class Classification:

  • It refers to a classification task with more than 2 classes.
  • The output is always one of the classes in the total class available
  • The outputs are always mutually exclusive
  • The output layer generally used is a softmax layer

Multi-Label Classification:

  • Here the input is assigned with a set of labels
  • The output may contain 0 or more labels
  • The outputs are not mutually exclusive
  • The number of nodes in the output layer matches the number of classes generally each node will have a sigmoid activation function
